The East TN Chapter of ASSP will be hosting a 1-day Risk Management Course which will focus on hazard identification, risk evaluation, and leading risk metrics.

“Occupational Risk Assessment Strategies” 

Risk Assessment is a fundamental part of OHSAS 18000 and ANSI Z10 Safety Management Systems, as well as the now published ISO 450001.  In this seminar, the background for and methodology of occupational risk assessments will be presented and discussed.  In addition, the seminar will present concepts for Risk Management and Risk Minimization, along with how to apply leading metrics to the overall Risk Management process.  Concepts from the ISO 31010 Risk Assessment and 31000 Risk Management will also be presented. 

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the drivers behind the risk assessment requirements for OHSAS 18000 and ANSI Z10
  • Discuss and present risk definitions and matrices
  • Review and practice a methodology for risk assessment
  • Understand how to apply occupational risk assessment to risk management
  • Review and discuss risk reduction strategies
  • Develop and use leading metrics (and a balanced scorecard) for the overall risk management program

The seminar will be based on a case study.  In addition, we will perform multiple workshops throughout.
